United Way Learning & Volunteer Experience

Learning:
Demo of Get Connected; an online volunteer platform that directly connects potential volunteers with programs and organizations needing help throughout SW MN. Learn how to enroll and search for opportunities and events (one-time or ongoing). Come see how you can get involved in your community.
 
Mini Volunteer Experience:
MAYP members will get to participate in a mini volunteer experience. Members will help assemble a sample of Wild About Kindergarten School Readiness Kits. These bags are given to every child who attends Kindergarten Round-Up each spring in the United Way of SW MN services area (26 schools/Approx. 1,000 students). In each bag, students receive a book, dry erase board with dry erase marker, notepad, crayons, scissor, glue stick, shape and cutting worksheets, alphabet/number activity book and modeling clay. Resources for parents are also included in the bag. The goal is to encourage children and parents/caregivers to work on school readiness skills over the spring and summer for preparation for kindergarten in the fall.
