Location: In-Person, Marshall Public Schools District Office
FTE: 1.0 FTE, 260 Day Contract
Shift: Day Shift, 8 Hours Per Day
Days of Work: Monday - Friday
Weekend Work: No
Travel Required: No
Salary: Starting at $55,000 annually and up depending on qualifications
FLSA: Non-Exempt
 
Marshall Public Schools is seeking experienced applications for the position of Payroll Specialist. This position is located in the Marshall Public Schools District Office serving over 450 staff members. 

Job Summary:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing a semi-monthly payroll. The Payroll Specialist prepares various weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports, along with other correspondence regarding employee deductions, benefits, and personnel records.

Qualifications:
Associate or Technical Degree or 3 or more years of payroll experience is required.
Strong communication, math, problem solving, computer and organizational skills needed. Candidate must be able to work independently and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.

Essential Functions:

  • Process semi-monthly payroll.
  • Collect, compile, and review all monthly payroll-related information from employees including employee absences and leave balances, import electronic timecards to the payroll system, and manually capture information from paper timecards.
  • Help process employment forms, benefit forms, answers and resolves problems as necessary. 
  • Assist with onboarding new employees as it relates to payroll.
  • Update and maintain all payroll system information.
  • Input employee deductions and benefits. Prepare reports for payment.  This includes but is not limited to garnishments, tax levies, and child support.
  • Process various weekly, monthly, quarterly, fiscal year end and calendar year end reports.
