SUMMARY OF POSITION
This part-time position is to be responsible for planning and executing Marshall Area Chamber events, and serves as an initial point of contact with the business owners and general public. Key duties include: planning events, adhering to event budgets, set up/tear down of events, managing events, soliciting sponsors or partner organizations, assisting in marketing, and promoting events with media outlets including web, social, print, & radio.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Organize, plan and develop projects and events initiated and hosted by the Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce. Annually, these events include monthly networking events, professional seminars, Business After Hours, Ribbon Cuttings, Legislative Meetings, MDBA meetings and events, and other various special events.
2. In collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator, write, design and edit material (programs, tickets, email blasts, etc) for events.
3. Manage event logistics while complying with the constraints of event budgets.
4. Assist with event sponsorship packages and agreements.
5. Perform some clerical duties; receive and screen telephone calls and visitors; provide courteous and responsive assistance; answer questions and provide information to the public; and respond professionally and appropriately when referring complaints.
6. Arrange, coordinate, schedule and assist with meetings and meeting facilities; prepare rooms; send notices and announcements as assigned; and arrange or assist with refreshments, as directed.
7. Prepare and order office supplies.
8. Attendance at Chamber events outside of normal work hours may be required of this position.
9. Assist the Chamber President with project management.
10. Arrange and coordinate Chamber committees, groups and programs.
11. Involvement in community programs, special projects and attend Chamber events as needed.
12. Ability to answer inquiries efficiently, with business maturity, discretion, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
13. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
14. Ability to analyze and solve problems.
15. Skill in organizing projects and establishing priorities in managing workload.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
· Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Events Management or similar field.
· Three (3) years experience in an events planning position
· Proficient in using Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint applications.
· Proficient in social media outlets
